Communications Specialist/Graphic Designer
Job Summary
The student communications specialist/graphic designer develops, coordinates and implements communication plans to support the goals of the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
This Division welcomes creativity in the development of strategies to promote its programs, educational opportunities, and facilities and to engage students and other stakeholders based on division needs and goals.
The primary goal of the position is to consistently create pleasing, appropriate and effective graphics for the division.
Duties include:
- Creating print and digital media to promote DEI programs, events, and initiatives
- Aiding in the creation of communication plans for DEI initiatives
- Assisting with maintaining the division’s website
- Aiding in managing the division’s social media sites
Desired Skills and Abilities
An ideal candidate will have strong interviewing and writing abilities, exceptional communication and organization skills, proficient internet research and fact-checking capabilities, reliable work ethic, willingness to learn on the job and solid academic standing. The candidate should have a grasp of AP Style, be a self-starter, pay attention to detail and adhere to deadlines.
Students pursuing a degree in journalism, advertising/public relations, communication or marketing who can work four to five days a week are preferred; however, all majors possessing the requisite skills are encouraged to apply. Photography and videography knowledge and skills are a bonus but not a requirement.
Reporting Structure
The position reports to and assists the Executive Director for External Engagement for the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in support of division communication efforts.
Start Date
Preferred timetable: Work will begin during Summer 2023 and continue through the Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 semesters. Start date is negotiable.
