Dr. Lizzie Smith

Dr. Lizzie Smith (she/her pronouns) holds a Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Central Arkansas, a Master’s degree in English from the University of Memphis, and a PhD in Higher Education Administration from The University of Alabama. Smith served as the graduate assistant for the Safe Zone Resource Center from August 2015 until December 2019. Before returning to the Center in the role of director, she worked as a student engagement coordinator for the UA Women and Gender Resource Center. Most recently, she has been awarded the NASPA-AL Rising Star award and completed her dissertation titled: “Let Me Be Professionally Queer: Experiences of Queer, Feminine Subjectivities in LGBTQIA+ Advocacy Roles in American Higher Education.” Her research and practice are grounded in intersectional advocacy for LGBTQIA+ students, faculty and staff in higher education.

Sav Campbell (they/them/theirs) is a senior from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, majoring in Computer Science. They facilitate weekly programs such as the gender discussion group Cinnamon Rolls, Not Gender Roles and the book club Let’s Get Books Together.
